How to Travel to Kumrat Valley
First and foremost, Kumrat Valley is not a destination for family vacations it’s an adventurous location with minor camp-style hotels that only provide the basic essentials. It is a camping and hiking destination that requires extensive planning.
The valley is inaccessible all year. This location is not accessible during the winter heavy snow. The snow begins to melt in April and continues until the end of May when it becomes accessible to locals; however, after June, green space starts to emerge in the valley, and the valley begins to welcome visitors. As a result, the greatest and most enjoyable time to visit Kumrat Valley is from mid-June to mid-October.
Furthermore, there are two ways to get to Kumrat Valley: one from the south via Timergara (Dir) and one from the north via Kalam (Swat Valley). Transport and Access

If you own a car, you will have no trouble switching vehicles on a regular basis. A 70cc or a car can even get to the valley (2wd vehicle till Thal). Those who wish to visit by public transportation must travel to Mardan and board a Timergara vehicle (Hiace/Coaster). Take the vehicle to Sheringal from Timergara.
Sheringal is a major town in Upper Dir with one university. So, from Sheringal, you’ll need to rent a Fielder/Probox until Thal. As mentioned earlier, you must book a Jeep from Thal so that you can move to Kumrat Valley.
Islamabad to Kumrat Valley (Distance/Route Map/Location)
The total driving distance for both Islamabad and Kumrat Valley is roughly 370 km (230 miles), or nearly 9 hours. The path between Kumrat and Islamabad is through M1 and then via M16 (Swat Motorway) to Chakdara at the Sher Khan Interchange. Moreover, the N45 trail, Dir Road, and eventually the Kumrat Road map will connect Islamabad to the Kumrat Valley.

Alternative Route to Kumrat Valley
Swat Valley is an alternate route to Kumrat Valley. The total length between Kumrat Valley and Mingora Swat is about 156 kilometers (97 miles), which takes about six hours to drive. This route can be taken from Airport Road via Matta or over N95 via Khwazakhela. Other tourist destinations and well-known destinations to visit in Swat include Kalam, Gabral, Bahrain, Madyan, and more.
The distance between Kumrat Valley and Kalam is approximately 63 kilometers (39 miles), which takes slightly more than three hours to drive. While in Swat, particularly in Kalam Valley or surrounding places, it may be very silly to take this alternative short route to Kumrat. Keep in mind that this “Utrar to Dir Road” path is not a seamless drive and thus can be demanding, but it can also be a great attraction for adventurers.
